As the internal borders between the Member States of the EU have disappeared, the external borders must be reinforced and protected under a clear strategic axis. It is necessary to have an advanced early warning system that allows the surveillance of these borders. Accordingly, the incorporation of new technologies to surveillance tasks performed by the Spanish Civil Guard has been carried out.

In Spain, this work is accomplished through the Integrated System of Exterior Surveillance (SIVE) of the Spanish Civil Guard, which allows the surveillance of the fringe of the Spanish territorial sea and its surroundings, providing real-time information to command and control centers, from where the information – obtained by the monitoring stations – is exploited.

Elecnor-Deimos, in consortium with IECISA has achieved the maintenance contract to achieve the maximum availability and performance of SIVE in the locations of Tarragona, Castellon, Valencia, Alicante, Murcia and the Balearic Islands. The contract lasts two years and can be extended for a further two. Both Spanish companies are solvent and technologically advanced, and will bring their experience in Security and Defence market into the proposal of a maintenance structure that meets all the requirements set by the Spanish Civil Guard, achieving maximum availability and performance of the SIVE system.
