Cookie Policy

What are cookies?

Cookies are files that can be downloaded to a computer through web pages. They are tools that play an essential role in the provision of many information society services. Among other things, they allow a website to store and retrieve information about the browsing habits of a user or their computer and, depending on the information obtained, they can be used to recognise the user and improve the service offered.

Types of cookies that exist:

Two types of cookies can be distinguished, depending on who is the entity that manages the domain from which the cookies are sent and treats the data obtained: Own cookies: those that are sent to the user’s terminal equipment from a computer or domain managed by the editor itself and from which the service requested by the user is provided and third-party cookies: those that are sent to the user’s terminal equipment from a computer or domain that is not managed by the editor, but by another entity that processes the data obtained through the cookies.

In addition, we talk about session cookies or permanent cookies, when it comes to the length of time they remain stored in the client’s browser.

Finally, there is another classification with four types of cookies depending on the purpose for which the data obtained are processed: technical cookies, personalisation cookies, analysis cookies and behavioural advertising cookies.

  1. a) Technical cookies: These cookies are strictly necessary for browsing the Website, as they enable the user to use its features or tools such as, for example, identifying the session, accessing restricted access areas, storing content for the broadcasting of videos or sound, configuring the language, among others. The deactivation of these cookies prevents the correct functioning of some of the website’s functionalities.
  2. b) Preference or personalisation cookies: these are cookies that allow information to be remembered so that the user can access the service with certain characteristics that may differentiate their experience from that of other users, such as, for example, the language, the number of results to be displayed when the user performs a search, the appearance or content of the service depending on the type of browser through which the user accesses the service or the region from which the user accesses the service, etc.
  3. c) Analysis or measurement cookies: These are cookies that allow the party responsible for them to monitor and analyse the behaviour of the users of the web pages to which they are linked. The information collected through this type of cookies is used to measure the activity of the website and for the elaboration of user browsing profiles, in order to introduce improvements based on the analysis of the data on the use made by users of the service.

In short, through web analytics, information is obtained on the number of users accessing the website, the number of pages viewed, the frequency and repetition of visits, their duration, the browser used, the operator providing the service, the language, the terminal used, or the city to which their IP address is assigned.  This information enables a better and more appropriate service to be provided by this website.

  1. d) Behavioural advertising cookies: these are cookies that store information on the behaviour of users obtained through the continuous observation of their browsing habits, which allows a specific profile to be developed in order to display advertising based on the same. These cookies obtain information about the user’s browsing to manage advertising spaces and offer more relevant and quality content for the user based on an analysis of their tastes and preferences.
