Orange and other mobile network operators are racing to install new antennas in order to expand and improve their coverage. They are laying new infrastructure so fast, in fact, that sometimes their coverage maps cannot keep up.
With Mapscov, Orange has drastically reduced the time it takes to update its coverage map from several days to a few hours. The tool is built over CARTO making it super easy to update, clean, publish and customize the network coverage map that is published on Orange’s site.
The tool employs both simulated data and real coverage data obtained from users via agents installed in smartphones (crowdsourcing). All the data obtained is anonymous and obtained from the user in a totally transparent way.
