Did you know that there are more than 6000 satellites in orbit around the Earth right now?

The accumulation of Space Debris particularly in low-earth orbits is one of the most pressing threats to the long-term sustainability of space operations, as it poses a series of risks and costs ranging from loss of the payload, launch delays and radio interference to light pollution for astronomic observations.

To tackle these issues we are working in SPACEWAYS, a European response to Space Traffic Management issues. This H2020 project kicked-off in January 2021and it is coordinated by FRS – Fondation pour la recherche stratégique. The main objectives are to characterise and analyse the current changing context of Space Traffic Management, especially its international and domestic dimensions.
